Brother Birch’s Home
Brother Birch's Home is where Arlo lives and spends most of his time. Due to Arlo's failing sight, the home is only described with smells and sounds. This, in turn, shows how isolated Arlo is and how lonely he feels, as he is often trapped in his room with no contact with the outside world. Brother Birch's wife (only known as Mrs. Brother Birch) also lives here, though she is only briefly mentioned, showing how little presence she has in her own home.
