Summary
As Jaxie trekked back to the shack he began to regret threatening Fintan, because he had given him food, water, and shelter and generally been kind to him. As night fell, he reminisced about the previous year when some honey bees made hives in his family’s backyard. Both Jaxie and his mother were distraught when the Captain destroyed the hives by covering them in gasoline and setting them alight. Jaxie recalled the sentimental value of his binoculars, which he had used with Lee to look at the stars. He realized that he had left the binoculars at Fintan’s hut.
In the morning, Jaxie went back to Fintan’s to retrieve his binoculars. Although Jaxie said he didn’t intend to stay, he took his boots off and sat down to eat with Fintain. Fintan told him he didn’t think he could...
