Summary

In Chapter 21, Bret decided the tape was too tainted and chose not to take it to the police or drop it in the Kellner’s mailbox anonymously, as he had considered doing. Bret decided that Robert had recorded the tape of some kind of game Robert had been playing with Matt that had gotten out of hand.

At school Monday, Bret dodged questions about where he had been all weekend. He told everyone he took drugs and worked on his novel. He felt that he, Susan, Robert, and Debbie were all playing the roles assigned to them and pretending nothing had happened.
