Summary

In Chapter 14, Homecoming week, Bret’s class had trouble with its float. Bret stayed past 10 pm helping work on it because Robert was there. Bret was distracted because Steven had called to arrange a meeting between Bret and Terry at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Bret realized neither Thom nor Susan were helping with the float and were instead standing by themselves arguing. There was a gasp when Susan slapped Thom. Debbie and Bret followed Susan into the bathroom while Robert went to talk to Thom.

Susan told Bret and Debbie she did not want to be Homecoming Queen. She had told Thom that all week, but he was insisting she had to, that it would look strange if she was not with him. Bret left Debbie and Susan alone because he sensed Debbie knew something about Susan and Thom...
