Summary

In Chapter 11, Matt was declared officially missing. Bret had to work hard not to seem overly concerned because he knew it would give away his secret. Because Matt’s parents did not keep track of him, it was unsure how long he had actually been missing.

Bret feared that Matt had not disappeared under his own power. What made things worse for Bret was that he could not talk to anyone about his fears because he had told his friend that he was not close to Matt in his attempt to keep up appearances. When Susan did ask Bret about Matt in private, and insinuated they were close, Bret did not tell her the truth.
