Summary
In Chapter 8, Bret read in the Los Angeles Times about a cult invading Los Angeles known as the Riders of the Afterlife. The same issue of the paper described another home invasion. Bret began to connect the cult and the home invasions at that time. It caused Bret’s paranoia to become worse. He began having the recurring fear that someone was in the house with him.
That night, Bret went to a new club with Debbie that was simply called “the space” (213). Bret describes the semi-dark club with no furniture as being eerie and disorienting.
