Summary
In Chapter 3, Bret describes the abductions of Julie Selwyn, Katherine Latchford, and Sarah Johnson believed to be the work of a serial killer who became known as the Trawler. These girls were found with similar “mutilations” (70). Bret says that the Trawler would kill three more people that fall. One of these was a person they all knew. At this point in Bret’s story, however, the police had not put together a full story about the Trawler.
The man was described as wearing a black ski mask, black jeans, and a black turtleneck. At first, there were home invasions where the Trawler’s target was attacked, but not killed. Later it was learned there were signs leading up to an attack indicating a victim had been targeted. The victim would begin receiving phone calls in which the caller would not say anything. The...
