Summary
Chapter Thirty-Nine opens as Paul wakes up and a man tells him that he will live. After Paul gets a look at him, the man makes him put on handcuffs and holds a knife close. The man says he is going to hurt Paul if he does not get the answers that he wants. He then asks where Charlie disappeared to. Paul says he has no idea and says he just wanted to move on. Paul is furious that Charlie has still gotten to him through hits man. He asks about Charlie a second time, and cuts Paul’s cheek. Suddenly, Paul comes up with a story that David Hague’s brother Rob got out of prison and blamed Charlie for his brother’s death.
