Summary
In Chapter Thirteen, Paul finds Jenny at the pub and she says that she always imagined him married and writing his stories as he used to be more proactive. She asks what changed and says that 25-years is a long time to dwell on things. He realizes that he had been affected by what happened and tells her that he found what his mother was talking about. He tells her about the copycat killings and how people find the idea that Charlie escaped justice appealing. Paul still does not know why his mother kept all the newspapers. Jenny says that Paul does not have to feel guilty and he remembers his first lucid dream in the dark market.
