Chapter 45

A few Tuatha'an stumble into Emond's Field, including Raen, his wife, and their son Aram. Most of the Tuatha'an have been slaughtered and all their wagons burned.

Whitecloaks, lead by Dain Bornhald, arrive from the south. Lord Luc surprises Perrin by asking Bornhald about the man called Ordeith. Bornhald admits that he does not know where Ordeith is but, recognizing Perrin from the description of the Darkfriend who supposedly betrayed his father to his death, he announces his intention to arrest Perrin and take him back to Amadicia for trial and execution. Perrin tells him that the Seanchan killed his father, but Bornhald believes the Seanchan are an Aes Sedai lie. Perrin, over protests from Bran Al'Vere and Faile, tells Bornhald he will come with the Whitecloaks, but only after they help defend Emond's Field against the trollocs. Dain agrees...
