The discovery of the tombs is devastating. Julián blames himself and hates himself. Julián disappears. Nuria finds the Victor Hugo fountain pen she had given him on her desk. At the publishing house Nuria is told that someone called Laín Coubert had been by and offered to buy all of Julián's books in order to burn them. When the publisher's warehouse was burnt down, the firemen found an unidentified who had suffered terrible burns all over his body. Nuria went to the hospital and found this man was Julián.
