Nervous, Wrong Number & A Flash Fantasy Summary
The section "Wilder" begins with the story "Nervous," in which the narrator has always been nervous about everything, especially dealing with men on an intellectual level; however, by no means is she a virgin. Though she goes home daily after work, the weekends belong to HER, and SHE wants to sleep with just about any man. SHE first appears during the narrator's freshman year in college as the narrator imagines having passionate sex with faceless men. Although the narrator wants to wait for marriage, SHE cannot wait. One cold winter night during the narrator's freshman year of college, SHE sees him in the library and pursues him to the stacks in the basement where she possesses him while forbidding him to speak for fear that the narrator would resurface.
