Chapter 12 Summary

When Adelia wakes the next morning, she has a feeling that someone has arrived in Godstow. It is Saint Stephen's Day, so all of the servants celebrate with the leftovers from the feast the night before. Since someone dug a tunnel out of the snow down to the ice, presumably to allow Dakers to escape, the villagers go down and skate on the ice. Adelia, Gyltha and the baby in her bassinet skate as well. When the villagers go back in through the gates, a newcomer sneaks in with them.

Jacques summons Adelia and Father Paton. He says that he delivered both of Adelia's invitations and the meeting is scheduled.
