Chapter 2 Summary

Bishop Rowley Pico returns to Cambridge and the people celebrate his return in the streets. He is also the one responsible for bringing the child murderers to justice. Adelia, Mansur, Gyltha and Adelia's baby are following behind the bishop. The King's messenger says that the King only wishes to meet with Adelia, but Adelia refuses to go without Mansur, Gyltha and the dog.

As Adelia and her group are let into the house of the bishop, she thinks about how King Henry II summoned her from Salerno, Italy for her talents for speaking to the dead. Once she solved the child murders, the King requested that she stay in England so that he could use her assistance whenever he needs it.

The bishop's secretary enters the room and gives the instructions to Adelia and the others. Adleia is to work with the nuns...
