Summary
In "Minnesota Goddamn," in late May, Hetta showed Tookie and Pollux the video of George Floyd's death on her phone. They were unsure how to respond to witnessing a murder (236). When the protests began, Hetta and Asema participated. Tookie watched Jarvis.
Hetta and Asema continued attending the marches. Worried about their safety, Tookie "had a terrible feeling as they drove off” (240).
Tookie took Jarvis to the bookstore with her. The day wore on without news from Hetta. When Tookie got home, she and Pollux tried to decide what to do. They called Hetta repeatedly without answer.
