Heiaus: Sacred Spots Summary and Analysis
The path to God is within the individual. The early Hawaiians had an intuitive connection. The Kahunas were the stewards of the life-force essence. They could intuitively find the energy centers, many of which have ancient ruins on them throughout the islands. These are all known as sacred spots on the islands. Originally they were places of concentration and reflection. The meaning of the world heiau was a place to capture energy.
There are differences in the energy, depending on where one is on the island. These energy centers were used for different things, most having to do with the weather. Chanting at these places would redirect the energy flow. People who visit the beiaus can tell if the energy is troubled or calm. Chose the calming places to meditate at.
