Summary
In Chapter 11, as Conway and Moran ate lunch, Conway noted she liked the way Moran got the girls comfortable by relating to each of them. She explained to Moran that when she had conducted interviews the previous year, her partner had said she was being too hard on the students. Meanwhile, the tabloids were reporting that the police were protecting one of the rich girls. She said she had thought at the time she needed to be tough because she was supposed to be finding a killer. In some ways, she has sensed the case was going to go bad from the beginning. She believed it had cemented her reputation in the Murder squad as “bad luck walking” (160). Moran worried about being associated with her and reminded himself that he only had to work with Conway for a few days.
