Summary

In Chapter 4, narrated by a third-person narrator, Rebecca is with Holly, Selena, and Julia in the Court, a mall near St. Kiln’s. Becca hates the Court. She remembers that before she met Holly and the others she used to call her mother and cry, wanting to come home because she was so miserable. Two years later, she still hates the court, two years later because she feels like everyone is staring at her and judging her. Rebecca hates the way every girl is expected to have her hair straightened with fake tan and full makeup so she will look like everyone else. Anyone who looks different is considered a “loser” (48). It is particularly painful today because some boys from Colm’s are talking to the Daleks, who are squealing and acting even more irritating than usual.
