Summary
Chapter 19, titled “Fiction House,” covers the birth of two new Marston children, the family’s move to Rye, New York, and aspects of Olive’s writing career. In 1933, both Olive Byrne and Elizabeth Holloway were pregnant. Olive gave birth to Donn and five months later Holloway, at the age of 40, gave birth to Olive Ann (called O.A. for short). In 1935, Marston and Holloway legally adopted Olive’s children, Byrne and Donn, as a precaution for keeping their living arrangement a secret. They began to refer to Olive as their widowed housekeeper. The family moved to Rye, New York in the summer of 1935. Olive, Holloway, and even Marjorie Huntley (when she was around) had their own rooms and Marston slept in all three.
