The story of Adrian Mole's life is revealed through the daily entries he makes in his diary. Published in England in 1982, Adrian's diary also offers us a view of the social and political life in England at that time. Adrian wakes on the first day of the new year with a spot on his chin. His diary entry also contains his list of new year's resolutions, which include promises to help the blind, the poor, and the ignorant, and to stop squeezing his spots. Adrian's parents are his subject for much of the month. George, his father, is a salesman. His mother, Pauline, is a stay-at-home mom.
