Summary

In Chapter 42, Barnaby wakes Hazel from a nightmare. She was calling Harry’s name. Hazel has been writing about Flora’s disappearance in her notebook. Barnaby begs Hazel to get Harry out of her system before they leave for Paris that day.

As Hazel and Barnaby board the train, Hazel spots a woman with an owl brooch and thinks of Whisperwood. Just then, Kelty arrives on the platform with Midge. Kelty hands Hazel a note from Peggy. Peggy says she is in London and asks Hazel to meet her at The Savoy Lobby tomorrow morning.

Mum arrives in Binsey in Chapter 43. Hazel flees her room in the middle of the night and visits the local church. She asks God to bring Flora back in exchange for her vow never to see Harry again. She hears a crying sound that might be an owl...
