Good Versus Evil

Good versus evil is the main focus of the story. Percy is is the main protagonist in the story and the books point of view comes from this character. His thoughts and emotions are seen. While Percy is young and has his flaws, it is clear that he embodies what the image of most heroes should look like. Percy is willing to put himself in danger in order to help the camp and his friends. Although he is willing to fight with everything he has Percy also shows that he is willing to go without the praise and glory that goes with being a hero. He sends Clarisse back to the camp with the fleece and keeps quiet when she is hailed as the heroine even though she had been willing to give up at one point in the story.
