Summary
Part IV is titled The Hall. In Chapter 17, Lucy notes that she and George tend to be on opposite sides of every situation, but they agree that Lockwood should not have taken this job without talking it over. Lockwood says this is probably the only chance to save the company and get a boost and reminds them he is in charge. He then points out that this is the most exciting case he can imagine. George says he does not understand why Mr. Fairfax chose them. Lockwood says that could be the most fascinating mystery of this assignment. George goes off to begin his research.
