Summary
Part I is titled The Ghost. In Chapter 1, Lucy Carlyle says she is not going to talk a lot about the first investigations she undertook with Lockwood & Co. because they were not really successes. She recounts some of the investigations that were resolved but says they all had problems. When they arrive at 62 Sheen Road, Lucy urges Anthony Lockwood to observe the rules, including that he is not to impersonate the client. No one answers the door, but a woman arrives. She identifies herself as Suzie Martin, the daughter of their client, Mrs. Hope. The house has become so haunted that Mrs. Hope has moved in with her daughter.
