Relationship Between Sean and Puck

The relationship that develops between Sean and Puck encompasses a major theme in “The Scorpio Races.” It all begins when Puck notices Sean on the beach and recognizes his name. Later, she is concerned for Sean when she sees Mutt taunting him outside Gratton’s butchery. Sean is drawn to Puck when he first sees her riding Dove on the beach, but when he has to rescue her when a capall uisce knocks her from Dove’s back, he warns her to keep her pony off his beach.
