Scorpio Races

The Scorpio Races are a yearly race for the capaill uisce, dangerous water horses that emerge on Thisby each fall. The races symbolize the bravery and courage of the riders.

The Morris is Finn’s beloved car which he sells to buy better food for Dove, symbolizing his loyalty to and faith in his sister.

Scorpio Festival

When the men object to Puck declaring her intention to ride during the Scorpio Festival, this symbolizes the tradition and misogyny surrounding the Scorpio Races.

Corr

Corr is Sean’s capaill uisce who protects Sean from others in the race, even though he becomes lame in the process. When Sean tries to release Corr to the sea, Corr returns to his owner. Corr’s interactions with Sean symbolize his loyalty.
