Summary

In Chapter 10, it is February. Frida’s phone privileges were revoked after failing the last evaluation. Beth often talks about her suicide attempts, making Frida uncomfortable. Linda’s oldest child runs away from his foster home. Linda’s anger makes the other mothers tense.

The mothers all catch the flu. Cooking class creates competition among them. They learn to feed their dolls. Frida is sorry that she cannot celebrate Chinese New Year with Harriet and her own parents. Frida starts having suicidal thoughts.

The mothers learn how to nurse a sick child back to health. Frida remembers how her grandmother often cared for her when she was sick. Frida feels uncomfortable when she is asked to hold Emmanuelle to her bare breasts. Linda grows frustrated at her peers’ failings and leads them all in a prayer.
