Summary
Agatha goes to Sophie as a cockroach. Sophie begs Agatha to forgive her, and Agatha promises to help during the trial. Sophie tells Tedros she lost challenges on purpose. Agatha stays under her collar. However, Hester does a roach extermination. Agatha runs away, realizing that the Nevers know she has been helping Sophie. She goes to Sader’s room and sees books on ghosts and how to host a spirit. Both girls dream of Gavaldon; Sophie has a nightmare, and Agatha dreaming of fire. Beatrix tells Tedros that Agatha has been helping Sophie cheat. He does not believe her because he thinks Sophie is no longer Agatha’s friend. Tedros follows Agatha into the Library and sees that she checks out Charms for a Happier World. Tedros berates himself for doubting Sophie. That night, the Trial begins. Each...
