Part Five Summary

The two sisters look over Lyta as she sleeps, wondering if Lyta will be their sister and speaking of the power of being three. Lyta wakes from a dream of her husband and son, and the sisters give her water. Lyta realizes that snakes are growing in her hair. She's turning into the third sister, Medusa. Lyta is intent on revenge. She rejects the gorgons who want her as their sister and goes looking for the Furies.

Rose Walker goes to see her friend Zelda, who is dying of AIDS. Zelda's lover Chantal is already dead, and Rose is the only person Zelda has. Zelda finds herself horny all the time, but Rose reminds her that they'll never be more than friends. Zelda asks why Rose is taking care of her, and Rose says that it's because she can. Zelda falls...
