Does Ray’s tone shift over the course of the memoir? How does this contribute to the narrative flow and your reaction to the text as a reader?

At some points, such as when she is at the doctor’s office and when they run out of water on the path, Ray writes with such intense remorse and pain. These sections are read with difficulty and the reader feels drawn into their grief. However, in moments of triumph and hope, such as when they realize that Moth’s health is miraculously improving on the path, she writes with a tone of awe and reverence, and the reader is left with a feeling of hope.
