Summary
In Chapter 11, "Sea Dancers," they camp along the beach and listen from inside their tent as the tide rises nearby and multitudes of surfers make their way by. The wind is getting colder. They scrounge enough money to pay for a campsite the next day and join a group of young men for beer and enjoy the companionship. In Chapter 12, Skins, they reach the town of Newquay, a shock after the wilderness. Ray notices that there is a large number of “homeless street dwellers” there (131). Here, Ray and Moth accept help and go to a soup kitchen. On the beach, they begin to feel uncomfortable by all the nude sun tanners, so walk away through the dunes.
