Summary
Raynor Winn’s memoir, The Salt Path, beings with a map that shows the major landmarks that make up the South West Coast Path. The reader can then follow along as she writes about their journey. She then opens with a short prologue that tells of her and her husband, Moth, waking up in their tent on the beach to the sound of the waves. With a start, they realize the tide is coming in and they quickly toss their belongings into their rucksacks and lift their still-erected tent into the air and run. Part One of the memoir, titled Into the Light, begins with Chapter 1, titled “Dust of Life.” The author moves back in time and describes hiding under the stairs with Moth, while the bailiffs knocked on their door, ready to repossess the farmhouse that they had put 20 years into restoring...
