Chapter 30, 31, 32, Epilogue Summary

In Chapter 30, Halt is in the ruins of the castle. He has found a place of concealment from the remaining Kalkara. It is searching the ruins for him. He is wounded and unarmed. He was caught in the freezing gaze of the creature for a moment, but was able to escape. Halt realized that the creatures were hunting him in the late afternoon and decided to make his stand at the ruins. He built the bonfire knowing they would wait until dark to attack.

Halt hears the arrival of the Baron, Sir Rodney and Will. The creature has stopped stalking him and is preparing to position itself to attack his friends. Halt jumps from his hiding place and throws his knife hitting the Kalkara in the eye. Halt runs from the Kalkara toward his friends. They rush to save him. The...
