Maddie’s Sling

Before she became a Ranger apprentice, Maddie was adept at hunting for game with her leather sling armed with lead balls. After she went through training, the Rangers included the sling as one of their standard weapons.

The Ranger Crossbow

The Ranger Crossbow had an unusual shape and was very heavy. It weighed fifty pounds and was quite a challenge for the young and slightly-built Maddie to learn how to use it effectively.

The Letter

To convince Maddie to take her Ranger training seriously, her parents wrote a letter disinheriting her. They temporarily took her status as princess and heir apparent from her so that she would cooperate with Will during her training.
