Reservation

The novel is set in the summer of 1988. Joe and his family live on an Indian reservation in North Dakota. The reservation consists mostly of single family homes with a few apartments built by the government. There is a Catholic Church, a gas station, and a lake. Bordering the reservation is a new golf course that welcomes Indians as well as the white people of the nearby towns. It is on this golf course that Linden Lark is shot and killed.
