Summary
Chapter 23 returns to May 1941 after the party Mab, Beth, and Osla attend. Beth says she was just talking to Harry about codebreaking and Osla wonders if Harry was flirting with Beth when he is already married. Osla says her mother was too busy focusing on herself to teach Osla about intimacy, so Mab enlightens them. Osla tells them about Philip and advises Beth not to fall in love with Harry. Osla says things will be different after the war and hopes Beth can find someone. Mab warns Osla about being used by men.
Chapter 24 opens with a short section from the Bletchley Bletherings about a naval leader. Francis invites Mab to dinner and she thinks he is a mystery. Giles tells her Francis is a good match but Mab thinks Francis will never be content. Mab wonders why she has not asked for...
