Chapter Fifteen Summary
In Chapter Fifteen, Jean-Marc sets out to prove to Rose that his love is genuine. One day, Claire mentions an old dress she has that seems as if it were made for Rose. It turns out to be the birthday gown that Rose's father had bought for her years before. For Rose, seeing the dress is like seeing her parents again. She explains the story of the gown to Claire. Jean-Marc continues to woo but Rose, but realizing he is still too hurt from his past to love her, Rose is kind, but does not return his love. It is not until one day when Jean-Marc sees Rose with baby Laurent that he realizes how much the loss of his son hurt him and defined him. That night, he dreams of his mother.
