Chapter 3 Summary
The next day, Daisy pulls up to her spot overlooking the city's traffic once again. She rests momentarily, reviewing the stresses that occurred in her life in the last twenty-four hours. She awakened in the middle of the night, worrying about the state of her house pending another visit from Steve. In a flurry, she cleaned much of her townhouse. Next, Kevin ate all the pancakes for breakfast, as only a fourteen-year-old can. Then, her car stalled in the fast food drive-thru. Finally, she drove the traffic loop, dodging accidents and making her regular radio reports. She dozes for a few minutes before Steve calls her on the unit's car phone. They confirm their dinner date, and she assures him that the job is going well.
Just before her shift ends, she hears a report of gunfire on the police scanner. Daisy calls...
