Summary
In "The Whitest Girl," the girls at Yama Catholic Girls High School immediately disliked the new white girl, Terry Pruitt. Though there "were other Anglo girls" at their predominantly Latina school, Terry was "too white" (51).
One day, a group of girls followed Terry home (51). She lived in a trailer park with her grandmother and many siblings. The girls were "horrified" and "fascinated" by her home life (52). From then on, the girls calculated everything Terry did.
Terry befriended their janitor, Joseph. Everybody knew Joseph had been kicked out of the all boys school. For what, they were unsure. The girls did not understand why he was with her. When they asked Terry if she had had sex with him, she denied it.
