Chapter 26

Aenea and Raul take the consul Ship for a tour of the Startree. Aenea has sent the ouster's only GIDEON scout ship to Pacem with a message telling the Pope that she is coming. Aenea and Raul use ouster technology to fly inside the Startree as "angels." When they return, Aenea gives her last lecture and communion to a host of Ousters from all over the Startree.

Chapter 27

Raul begins to hear the language of the dead and the living. He witnesses a moment in the Holocaust through the eyes of a Jew. He sees a moment from the life of his grandmother, and the terrifying last moments of a young Muslim girl from Qom-Riyadh, moments before she is put in stasis and abducted by the Core. Finally, he sees Lenar Hoyt, the Pope, receiving Aenea's message and frantically ordering all ships back to...
