Chapter 15

It is five years later, and Raul has joined Aenea at the Temple Hanging in the Air, on T'ien Shan. He and A. Bettik are on supply run to a nearby trading center, when they learn that Pax ships have arrived in orbit around T'ien Shan.

Chapter 16

Raul recounts his arrival on T'ien Shan. He flew the Ship to the Temple Hanging in the Air, but was told to land on a nearby peak. There he was met there by a young woman named Rachel. This was Rachel Weintraub, the daughter of Sol Weintraub, one of the Hyperion pilgrims, though Raul was did not make this connection as her tale of living her life in reverse was in Martin Silenus's Cantos, and she was born over 300 years before.
