Summary

“Chapter the Eighteenth” (Chapter 18) – A preface to this chapter reveals that Satchel and the Prince have fled the gym, only for Satchel to be betrayed by the Prince and taken to the Court of the Immortals. Dylan then reveals himself to be the Messenger, preparing the way. Dylan then begins the ceremony that will allow the Empress to live in Satchel’s body as a Vessel and which will then open fissures to begin the invasion of the Immortals. In the main section of the chapter, Mikey, Mel, Henna, Nathan, Jared, and Steve arrive at the cabin. They eat steaks and watch the movie Tremors. Everyone decides to go night swimming. Suddenly, overhead, the sky over the town is crisscrossed with flashes and streaks of blue light. Everyone gets in touch with their parents. The same thing is happening in small towns all over...
