Summary

Scene four opens on Dogsborough, with his newfound financial success as the secret majority shareholder of Sheet’s company, now residing in a country house also given to him as a gift, where the fourth scene takes place. It begins with Dogsborough expressing guilt and remorse to his son, Young Dogsborough, for taking the house, while simultaneously attempting to justify taking the company shares. He is aware that fighting for a loan that was secretly in his own interests breached the public trust, explaining to his son that the loan has been spent by the Cauliflower Trust and thanking god that his secret ownership of Sheet’s company is still intact.

Just then, a servant (whom Dogsborough couldn't possibly have afforded prior to owning the shipping line), announces Arturo Ui’s arrival. Dogsborough loses his temper, and still clings onto the old honorable...
