Section 4: Chapters 10-12 Summary

In Chapter 10: Bast Goes Green, the carriers follow Bast and the children within a block so Bast summons hordes of cats to buy some time. Bast leaves Sadie to concentrate on opening a gateway through the Duat while she defends them, inviting Carter to help her. Bast's aura expands into a twenty-foot goddess with a cat head as she summons her combat magic, slicing the carriers in half. But when the carriers reform, Bast tells Carter to help cut them into smaller pieces. Sadie is getting nowhere as the brush rustles with a slithery sound. Bast growls as Serqet, the Scorpion goddess, emerges. Saying things are about to get ugly, Bast tells Carter and Sadie to find the temple in the museum and she will catch up. Carter grabs Sadie and they run to the museum.
