Summary
Jamison’s first drink back is a Manhattan. Dave makes it for her. He believed her when she told him she could drink differently this time around. She deliberately drinks only one Manhattan that night to show him that drinking is no longer a problem. She does this so her drinking looks controlled. In her head, though, she knows she has very little control over her drinking. For the first few months, she tries to follow some of the rules she made for herself while daydreaming during Big Book sessions. She knows that she would rather not drink for four nights and get drink three nights a week than drink moderately very night. For Jamison, without getting drunk, there is no point to drinking at all.
