Summary
Chapter 37 is titled “Gentry.” Dane enters and demands again that Zee and Gentry leave though Alva tells him to stop. Alva takes a phone call in his room, then summons Zee.
Chapter 38 is titled “Zee.” Alva says he has talked to a Klansman who simply calls himself The Fury and claims to have information to sell. By now, news reports indicate that the second volunteer, a woman named Molly, was romantically involved with Ligett and are hinting that LaReigne's is not an innocent hostage. Zee says she and Gentry will get a motel room and wait to hear from Alva again. Dane becomes furious. He says that a Klansman is not going to “sell out his brothers” (267) and that Zee is putting them all in danger.
