Summary
Chapter 13 is titled “Zee.” Zee drops Marcus off at school then goes to Dorothy's house where she finds that the U.S. Marshal's office is trying to serve a warrant. They force Dorothy outside where she has to stand up for a long time in the heat. For hours, they watch as police drag all her stuff outside, including china hutches and dozens of boxes. The search warrant lists some specific things, including “Components for improvised explosive devices” (92). Zee is furious, pointing out that no one could possibly have found room to build a bomb among this mess. Zee knows the fact that her father was a bank robber and that the money was never recovered is part of the reason for the search. They next impound Zee's car Dorothy winds up going to the hospital by ambulance.
