Summary

In Chapter 22, "Mukesh," Vritti invited Mukesh over for lunch. He insisted on taking the train to her apartment. Though he was "looking forward to seeing his daughters," he was worried they would confront him about Nilakshi (228). Though he did not love Pride and Prejudice, the characters reminded him of his own family.

Lunch at Vritti's was pleasant until Deepali started badgering Mukesh about Nilakshi. Then Rohini called and added her opinion. Mukesh finally asserted himself, explaining that he was lonely and sad, and that Nilakshi had "been kind" to him (235). He left abruptly.

In Chapter 23, "Aleisha," Aleisha and Leilah watched a movie together. Aleisha was glad Leilah enjoyed the film. Leilah asked Aleisha who she was texting. She had been messaging Zac all evening. Leilah was excited and invested, which surprised Aleisha. She began to realize how the booklist had changed her life...
