Summary
In "Joseph," at the library one day, Joseph saw an elderly person slipping papers into books. One of the books was Life of Pi. When he started reading it, Joseph found the book relevant to his own life.
In Chapter 15, "Aleisha," Aleisha finished The Kite Runner "in the deserted library" (157). She felt emotional afterwards. She thought about the characters, relating their story to her own life. When she had talked to Aidan about the book, she realized she needed to make amends with people (158).
Mukesh came in to return Rebecca. They talked about the way books could affect people. Aleisha helped Mukesh check out The Kite Runner.
Their conversation made Aleisha pleased. Mukesh "was opening up, little by little" (161). She was glad their relationship had changed since their first meeting. She realized that people could change in spite of their pasts.
