Cabeswater

Cabeswater represents Ronan’s dreams and the progress of corruption. Everything in the novel, including most of the character’s powers, resonates around Cabeswater. Ronan dreamed it up and can add more to it. Gansey can command it to obey him and Adam bound himself to it. As all of the characters struggle with their goals and lives, Cabeswater becomes more and more corrupted. As they fall apart, the demon takes over more of the land. Cabeswater is only saved when the characters - especially Gansey- are willing to accept their role in keeping it alive. This is also why it disappears at the end of the novel as the characters have accomplished everything they need.

Gansey represents the road to acceptance. All throughout the novel, Gansey knows that he is going to die, whether it is by Blue or something else. He also struggles...
